Terms & Conditions
1. About Hartco Aurum
These terms and conditions apply to the purchase of physical gold coins (including graded gold coins) and related products and services offered by Hartco Aurum Ltd ("Hartco Aurum", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16390802, with its registered office at 30 Constance Grove, Dartford, England, DA1 2GA.
Hartco Aurum trades as The Gold Consultancy. We specialise in the sourcing of authenticated and professionally graded gold coins, alongside selected physical gold and bespoke requirements.
Please read these terms carefully before ordering. They tell you who we are, how we sell, and your legal rights. By placing an order you confirm that you accept them.
2. Definitions
- "We", "us", "our" — Hartco Aurum Ltd.
- "You", "your" — the person buying products or services from us.
- "Product" / "Goods" — physical gold coins and other items we sell or source.
- "Order" — your request to purchase, accepted by us under these terms.
- "Writing" — email or another durable, permanent form of communication.
3. Eligibility to order
You may order from us only if you are at least 18 years old and are legally capable of entering into a binding contract. We may require proof of age and identity before accepting an order.
4. Product descriptions
We take care to describe products accurately. Each coin is described by reference to its type, year, country, denomination, fineness, weight, grading company, grade and certification number where applicable. Product photography is illustrative; the specific item you receive is described in the order confirmation.
5. Accuracy of information
Prices, descriptions and availability may change. We will confirm the applicable price and description for your order at the time of acceptance. If we discover an error in the price or description of goods you have ordered, we will tell you as soon as possible and give you the choice of proceeding at the correct price or cancelling the order.
6. Pricing
Prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP). The price of physical gold is linked to the prevailing market price and may change between enquiry and confirmation. The price payable is the price we confirm to you in writing when we accept your order, and no order is binding until that confirmation is given.
7. VAT treatment
VAT treatment depends on the specific product. Qualifying investment gold is generally VAT-exempt in the UK, but this does not apply automatically to every coin. We will confirm the applicable VAT treatment for your specific purchase at the time of enquiry. This information is for guidance only and does not constitute tax advice.
8. Product availability
All products are subject to availability. We do not present a product as being in stock unless current stock information has been supplied. Where a product is sourced to order, availability and timescales will be confirmed at the time of enquiry.
9. Ordering and order acceptance
When you place an order, we will send an acknowledgement. The contract between us is formed only when we confirm acceptance of your order in writing and payment arrangements are agreed. We may decline an order where we cannot verify the information provided, where the product is unavailable, or where required to do so by law or our compliance procedures.
10. Payment
Payment is by bank transfer unless we agree otherwise in writing. The purchase price is confirmed at the time of order and must be received in full (cleared funds) before goods are released or dispatched.
11. Payment verification and fraud prevention
We may verify the source of funds and the identity of the person paying before accepting an order. We will not accept high-value cash payments. We may delay, decline or cancel an order where required for fraud prevention, compliance, or by our payment provider.
12. Customer identity and compliance checks
As part of our anti-money-laundering and customer-verification procedures, we may request proof of identity, proof of address and other transaction information before completing an order. Orders may be delayed, declined or cancelled where these checks cannot be completed satisfactorily. Please see our AML / Customer Verification page.
13. Delivery
Delivery is arranged with insurance and discretion, and is confirmed with you before dispatch. Delivery estimates are given in good faith and may vary. Please see our Delivery Policy for full details.
14. Risk and title
Risk in the goods passes to you when they come into your physical possession (or into the possession of someone you have nominated to receive them). Title to the goods passes to you once we have received payment in full and the goods have been delivered to you.
15. Inspection on delivery
Please inspect goods promptly on delivery. If packaging is damaged, please note this with the carrier and contact us. If an item is faulty, misdescribed or not as ordered, you have statutory rights as set out below.
16. Faulty or misdescribed goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If goods are faulty or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund, and to a full refund if you reject the goods within 30 days. These rights apply in addition to your cancellation rights and cannot be excluded.
17. Your right to cancel
Where you buy as a consumer at a distance (for example, online or by email), you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods, for most purchases. See our Returns & Refunds Policy and the Cancellation Form.
18. Bespoke and specially sourced products
Certain products that are personalised, custom-made or made to your specification may be excluded from the statutory right to cancel, where a statutory exception genuinely applies. We will tell you before you order if a product falls into this category. This does not affect your rights in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods.
19. Authenticity, grading and certification
Graded coins are assessed for authenticity and condition by a recognised third-party grading service and are sealed in a tamper-evident holder with a certification number. We do not guarantee future resale prices, appreciation or investment returns. See our Authenticity & Grading page.
20. Product photographs
Photographs are for illustration and may show a representative example rather than the exact item. The specific item and its condition are described in the order confirmation.
21. Errors in pricing or description
If we identify an error in pricing or description, we will inform you and give you the option to proceed at the corrected terms or cancel your order without charge.
22. Website availability
We aim to keep this website available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend or withdraw it for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control.

24. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
25. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your statutory rights as a consumer. We do not exclude or limit your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer protection legislation.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms is intended to affect your statutory rights.
26. Complaints
If you have a complaint, please contact us and we will aim to resolve it promptly. See our Complaints page.
27. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
